Tell the Supreme Court to not repeal gay marriage!

We knew the right-wing wouldn’t stop at abortion. Now they’re aiming for gay marriage! Idaho Republican legislators have filed a resolution demanding the U.S. Supreme Court overturn Obergefell v. Hodges, the historic 2015 decision that established marriage equality across the nation. 

“The Idaho Legislature insists on restoring the issue of marriage and enforcement of all laws pertaining to marriage back to the several states and the people,” reads the resolution, which demands a return to a recognition of marriage as solely a union between a cishet man and a cishet woman.

Demand the Supreme Court protect gay marriage rights!

While thankfully this is a nonbinding resolution with no legal weight, it’s a clear declaration of the next battlefield in the interminable right-wing war against progress, tolerance, and equality. Justice Clarence Thomas has already said that the Supreme Court should reconsider the ruling on gay marriage, indicating that the campaign already has some support on the nation’s highest court. 

We must not allow the GOP and Clarence Thomas to undo everything we’ve fought so hard for and drag us back to the bad old days.
