Demand ABC put Jimmy Kimmel back on the air!

In a shocking escalation of fascistic overreach and clampdown on free speech, late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel’s show has been put on indefinite suspension by his parent company ABC, a subsidiary of the Disney megaconglomerate, over his comments on Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

“The MAGA Gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said. “In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving,” he added. These comments are not particularly controversial or offensive, but they gave ABC the excuse it needed to pull him off the air and score political points with the Trump administration.

Just before ABC announced the news, the Nexstar Media Group said that its stations that are affiliated with ABC would preempt Kimmel’s show “for the foreseeable future beginning with tonight’s show” because of the host’s statements. Nexstar just so happens to be seeking FCC approval for a $6.2 billion merger with Tegna, and the corporate behemoth well understands that approval from the Trump administration must be purchased with acts of loyalty as well as a material windfall.

Trump has been calling for Jimmy Kimmel’s show to be taken off the air for months now, and now he’s finally got it because a corporation would rather bow and scrape to a would-be dictator than uphold the ideals of free speech. We must make our voices heard and demand Kimmel be put back on the air!
